Saturday Sunshine!

Were Joey and I ever excited to get a call from Jenn, Jess and Griffin Friday night inviting us to the lake! We made chicken, bought a pineapple and applied the sunscreen. (However, we should have re-applied!) After arriving a little late at the Nine Mile School meeting spot we climbed into the Stauff rig and away we went. The plan was to head to Long Lake (AKA Poo lake). We had a little difficulty finding the Nine Mile launch because they changed the entry road, by like 1/2 a mile! After finding it the launch was a little interesting. Due to the amount of water coming out of the dam quite a bit of sand had back filled the launch which basically meant two things: you need to put your rig WAY into the lake to launch and the trailer literally starts to go back up as you're backing down. Very crazy! Okay, we're launched! Received a lake temperature report...54 degrees. Yowza.. would we jump in?

The lake was a bit like an obstacle course with all of the driftwood, floating stumps and branches. Joey kept yelling, "LOG" to skipper Jess. He was very helpful for sure. The first swimmer of the day was Jess followed by an accidental fall in by Joey, a jump by Griffin and last but not least ole' Wyoming and I had to stand up to all the guff we'd been dishin' all afternoon and take the plunge. I have to say that is the coldest water I have been in for awhile. It gave me a headache, took my breath and I wanted...well OUT!
Joey and Griffin had a great time tubing. Each of the adults took a turn with them. It was quite the ride. A huge thanks to Jenn, Jess and Griffin for a wonderful time at the lake. The boat, the speakers, and the company made for a perfect day. And remember to always help those having trouble at the boat launch, even if it means you in the 54 degrees water for 20 minutes! You rock Jess!

P.S. Griffin- Joey just had to get a water gun just like you, so we're ready for next time!
