We're Home!

Princess Katie!

What a treat to be home! Katie had her first Doctor appointment yesterday. She has not gained weight so we are on an every two hour feeding frenzy. I think that actually means a sleep deprivation frenzy! A huge thank you to my momma who puts Katie back to bed for me after each feeding.
Joey is still one wonderful big brother, he calls her "Katie Kate". He and daddy had boys' night last night at Granpa's house while Grama and I stayed home with Katie!
Please keep Katie in your prayers for gaining more weight! Thanks for your emails, calls and support!

Here are the Grandparents at the hospital...very proud indeed!

Introducing...

Kathryn Grace 2-20-09

Kathryn Grace! Weighing in at 6 pounds and 9 oz. at 7:59am, February 20th. We are so thrilled with this little bundle of joy. Katie's brother is absolutely smitten with her and was able to visit this afternoon.Grandpa and Grandma Keith were with us at the hospital, they may be a little biased but they think she's pretty amazing too!
I'm doing great, albeit tired! The c-section went very well and Tom was "coach" this morning. Love you honey! Looking forward to introducing her to you! Here is the big brother in action! You are going to be a wonderful helper Joe Joe!
Thank you everyone for all of your prayers, calls, texts and messages.

Super Bowl Birthday Party

The Super Bowl was also our grandpa's birthday! We had several games, sit on the balloon, drop the quarter into the jar (now Coug fans-this is not be confused with the other "quarters" game) and cotton ball races! Here are a few pics from the festivities...

Grandma held back no stops by surprising Joey with fingerpaints! Now really, when was the last time you pulled these out for some tactile fun?!Happy Birthday Grandpa!

Countdown...

Okay...it's really getting close. It's the 10 day countdown! The nursery is complete. The last editions are the canvas displays created by local artist Sally and the new ottoman with of course a pink coverlet made by my momma! We can't wait to meet you. Even Joey said to my tummy in a whisper..."Katie, we are going to take good care of you when you come out!"

Spoiled...Again!

Last Monday I was treated to another shower by my girls at my work. It was absolutely delightful-wonderful company, lovely gifts for Katie and too die for Pink Lemonade cake! A warm-hearted thank you to the ladies at the District Office for absolutely spoiling me! Katie will be the best dressed lil' princess ever!!

The amazing dessert recipe..
PINK LEMONADE CAKE

1 Package 2 layer yellow or white cake mix
1 6 oz can frozen pink lemonade, thawed and divided
1 qt. vanilla ice cream
1 pint whipping cream
8 or 10 drops of red food coloring

Prepare cake mix according to package directions. Bake in two 9” pans; cool.
Meanwhile stir ice cream to soften, quickly stir 1/3 cup of the lemonade and 5 to 6 drops food coloring. Spread evenly in a foil lined 9” round pan. Freeze 2 or 3 hours or until firm.
Frosting:
2 cups whipping cream whipped with 2 - 4 Tablespoons of sugar and ¼ cup of the pink lemonade (and 3 to 4 drops of red food coloring) – whipped to spreadable frosting consistency (stiff and firm is best to use as a cake frosting)
Place one cake layer on serving plate, top with frozen ice cream layer; then remaining cake layer. Frost with whipped cream and return to freezer for at least one hour. Enjoy!
