A Fishing We Did Go!

Another amazing thing about our daddy is that he is a FISH MAGNET. This means if you go fishing with him...you catch fish! Joey has been asking when he will go fishing and I have told him as soon as daddy gets home. Well yesterday it was a reality as we went up to Loon Lake. We also brought with us the radiant Emma Thompson and this my friends was her first time fishing! Needless to say with the fish magnet the end result is going to be good. Tom thought Emma caught about 20 fish and Joey around 30. They were a hoot!

The scene was set on the dock in the bay at Granite Point. I might add that the dock clearly has a "No fishing" sign posted, but this does not necessarily mean anything when you have been coming to the lake for your whole life! (that would be TOM!) For the first round of fishing Emma and Joey took turns with the pole. They would pick out the corn kernel and Tom would bait the hook. Tom helped a little getting the fish on the hook and the kids would reel them in. We got to touch the fish, kiss the fish and watch them in the bucket.

On the second round of fishing Emma fished with Joey's Grandpa while Joey fished with his daddy. This too was very exciting! In the end Joey and Emma each chose a fish for daddy to gut and clean and then of course take home. We gave the Thompson's some cooking instructions so it will be interesting to see how that all turned out!

Thanks for the great fishing day Emma! We are glad you were able to join us! How cool that we were with you on your first big fishing day!

The Summer in Review

Jill, Will, Kate, Kim

We anxiously await the arrival of our daddy this week. It has been too long without him! We have managed to just need a new washer while he was gone and I went ahead and bought the matching dryer while I was at it. Everything else has held up and if not, my parents have stepped in to mend or fix it! We have been busy these last few days building a shed as a surprise for daddy however, this morning Joey just couldn't resist keeping it a secret. Too cute!
Just to let our daddy know how busy we have been here are few pics to retell our adventures:

Swimming Lessons at the Denton Pool

Soccer Camp

Lounging at Loon Lake with the Sicilia's
Sydney, Finley, & Laura

Visit with Auntie Jill, Will and baby Kate

And yes, Kate continues to do great. Thanks for all of your prayers! Fun visit with the Cunninghams and a successful purse party as well. Thanks to all of you who joined in the festivities! HAPPY SUMMER!

Race the River Tri

"The Cheer Squad"

Joined the crew today over at Couer D' Alene for the first annual Race the River. It was perfect weather and racing conditions. The swim seemed long, the water a bit brisk, the ride a little technical and the sandwich a bit small, but a great race for all! Congrats to Roger on a victory and Jessi for a second place finish with a 1st in her age group (I think you could have had the gazelle!).
Laura, Rhonda and Jamie--my race girls did a superb job as well. Thanks for racing on without me! Hopefully you heard a few cheers from the side. :-)

Here are some pics of the fun day, this is a book created in iPhoto. Click this link to view the movie! http://web.mead.k12.wa.us/tech/KIM/DaRaceRiver.mov

The latest injury...

Well add emergency dentist visit to our list! Joey was watching a movie on the couch with the recliner out. He needed to go pottie so stepped down from the couch but his foot stepped into the area between the recliner and couch which propelled him forward. It happened really fast because as I turned around he had smashed his mouth right into the coffee table and didn't have time to brace himself with his hands. I'll pause so you can create the visual...

Blood everywhere I try to get Joey to the bathroom to ascertain what is wrong. I see blood coming from his two front teeth and they are not quite in the right spot and I see trouble with his lip, it has a pretty gaping slice. So who to call, the dentist, the ER? I call my dad who I have trouble hearing because of the screaming from Joey. Dad says mom is in town so he'll call her and send her over. Meanwhile I call the dentist on call and attempt to leave a message. First one was all screams so called again. The plan was to head to the ER. However before mom arrives dentist calls. He says I need to try to bend the front teeth back to where they are supposed to me. I give a try as Joey hollers like a son of gun. So the dentist says he can be at the office in 15 so we'll meet him there. Mom arrives and we Joey into the car. She holds Joe while I drive. After arriving at the dentist first stop is x-rays to make sure the permanent teeth are okay and that there are no teeth fragments in the lip. Mom holds Joey during the x-rays while I push the button. We are the dentist's assistants! Next we move to the room. Joey gets the gas and of course a movie. Dr. Evans then numbs the upper gum and moves the teeth back . AMAZING! Joey just giggles- so maybe enough gas? He then puts shots into Joey's lip, for the stitches. Joey doesn't like this much but hangs in there. Mom is instructed to rub Joey's leg while I hold down his arms. I then instruct Dr. Evans for the suction and water, I am the assistant you know. After a stitch which I might add was gross Joey is ready. Soft foods for 3 weeks and no swimming for a week. He is on Motrin every 8 hours and we're "force feeding" the popsicles. He is doing great! His lip does look terrible!

Joey is such a trooper, this is him the next day styling his own hair! Fat lip and all!

Happy Birthday

We had a great 4th of July celebration. It is also my birthday which made it even a better day! We started off with a parade in our friend's neighborhood. Joey absolutely loved it. And with a fire truck leading the parade what kid wouldn't love it? Thanks Taylor and Lauren for a fun time! Our float was definitely the best and received raving reviews from everyone!

Next we were treated to lunch from Twigs by Trish. It was delicious. Trish was so impressed with the speed of the takeout and a holiday to boot, I'll have to remember that! Thanks Trish for spoiling me, you rock!

The next part of the day is a little rocky because I decided to try and get Joey down for a nap since we were planning to do late fireworks downtown. He doesn't love naps in fact I barely do them anymore because the process can be daunting. I have been a little soft since the injury so we started in my bed. I was out like a light and came too realizing Joey was gone. He said he was going to sleep in his bed. I'm out again then wake up to noises in Joe's room. I walk in to the sight of a huge fort he has erected from blankets. Get him into bed just settling in myself and hear noises again. Now he has built a "present" in front of his door for me. Good grief. I finally have to threaten no fireworks and with a few tears he's out...for 2 hours! Part of wanted to get up and maybe do a few chores instead I slept the whole time too. :-)

My parents arrived at 5 to do a little cake and presents. My parents helped me get a new patio set since I shattered the glass on the table top of my old one. It is the taller look and can be a bar as well! It's definitely where I might just be serving up margaritas at upcoming purse party! A bluetooth for the car, new tops and skirt from Ann Taylor and some products from Bath and Body. Perfect! We each had two mini cupcakes after Joey blew out my candles and headed downtown!

Next stop, Anthony's for dinner. It wasn't our best dinner from this favorite spot, we'll blame it on the holiday staff. We did however have a great seat on the patio! We also left our car here and cruised on over to the park afterwards then came back to the parking lot for the fireworks! We had no car lines or crowds, our execution was beautiful!

Hope everyone had a great 4th! I did my best to share the fireworks with all of you!
